The History of Zodiacal Constellations
Zodiacal constellations have a history spanning more than 3,000 years. The ancient Babylonians were the first to divide the ecliptic into 12 equal parts, each associated with a constellation and a month of the year.
The Greeks adopted and expanded this system, adding the rich mythology we know today. Each constellation has stories of gods, heroes, and mythical creatures that reflect the values and beliefs of ancient culture.
Astronomy vs Astrology
It's important to distinguish between astronomical constellations and astrological signs. Due to the precession of the equinoxes, the Sun is no longer in the constellation Aries during the spring equinox as it was 2,000 years ago. However, the astrological sign of Aries still begins at that point.
