Pisces

Description

Pisces is a large but faint constellation, formed by two lines of stars representing two fish joined by a cord. It currently contains the vernal point (spring equinox).

Mythology and History

Pisces represents Aphrodite and her son Eros, who transformed into fish and tied themselves with a cord to escape the monster Typhon. The star Alrescha marks the knot of the cord.

How to Observe

Visible from September to January. It is difficult to see in light-polluted skies. The "Circlet of Pisces" is its most recognizable part.
